“THE TOWN DIVIDED”

HEADMASTER’S OPINION x

COLLEGE FOOTBALL MATCHES.

Electric Telegraph—Pi-es.s Association CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.

Speaking at the break-up yesterday., Rev. E. C. Crosse, headmaster of Christ’s College, said that it was necessary bo protect youthful footballers from unhealthy excitement, and therefore be was still strongly opposed to playing, the annual Boys’ High School v. College match on a place like Lancaster Park. Further, he held that the present concentration of public interest in this match encouraged the division of the town into, two camps.. The match should' be regarded as a private, and not a public event.
