THE JUDGE'S COMMENTS.
QUALITY WELL MAINTAINED. Referring to the dairy and Jersey clashes, which were again features of the show, Air S. R. Lancaster, the well-known Palmerston North judge, said that numerically they were not up to previous years, but nevertheless, were a good even Jot, the quality being quite on r a par with last year’s exhibits. The pedigree Jersey cow class was, lie < onsidered, better than before, and the championship cow and the- reserve champion deserved special mention. The champion Jersey hull was also of an excellent type and the reserve champion too, showed good breeding. Some very promising young stock had been penned. Mr H. T. Janies, the judge of the sheep classes, stated that there was a very marked improvement in fat sheep and lambs as compared with 1923. The qualify was quite equal to that of some of the larger shows. "Very good lambs” was his verdict of the Longwool or Longwool Crosses. The Down or Down Crosses, pen 43, were described as exceptionally fine, but too heavy for the class in which they were shown.
