ROGER CASEMENT’S TREACHERY

(Received this day at 11.10 a.m.) The “Freiheit” publishes the text of a treaty made by the German 1 oreurn Office with Roger Casement in December, 1914, providing that the German Government would form an Irish Brigade composed of prisoners of Irish descent, who would wear Irish uniform to fight exclusively under the Trish Flag. The officers would temporarily be Germans, but later Irishmen from America would be nppointed. After a German naval victory an attempt would be made to land on the const of Ireland, and if unable to disembark there the Brigade would be used to attack the Suez Canal.
Germany undertook, after peace was arranged, to n.ssist mem bet's to America or alternateivcly to give the utmost aid <in support of the Irish Government if formed. The, “Freiheit” adds 'that recruiting for the Brigade was « big failure, as only 54 Irishmen enlisted to August, 1915.
