PATRIOTIC SHOP.

A .SUCCESSFUL UNDERTAKING

The patriotic shop was open on Saturday under the auspices ot the Women’s National Reserve (civil branch), when a very successful dov’s business was conducted, showing profits of upwards of £2O for the benefit of the New Zealand branch of the British Red 1 Cross Fund. The shop w'as under thie charge of Mrs Hart, Mrs McKenzie and Miss Gregory. Other stalls were: Linen stall, Miss Reese and Miss McHardie; lollie stall, -Miss Chambers and Miss Rattle ; cake (weight-guessing), Mrs Fames; bran tub, Miss Hedges. The “Be a Sport” cake, given by Mrs Hall, of Konini, was won by Miss Gregory. Several raffles were held for articles given for that purpose, the winners being: Blouse (Miss Reese), won by Miss Nixon; two drakes (Mr Grut), won Ivy Mr Martin; blouse (Miss McHardie), won by Mrs P. Thomson; boudoir cap (Miss Simons);, won by Mrs Fenn. Morning and afternoon tea. was dispensed in Mr East’s tent, which was erected on the vacant section adjoining the Trocadero, and was under the management df Mrs Fcnn and Mrs P .Thomson, assisted by the Misses Warren, Marshall (2), MacFarlane, McLaughlin and Mrs Ransom and Mrs Taylor. Those in charge of the tea tent wish to acknowledge the valuable assistance given them by Mr and Mrs East in the loan of crockery and other articles.

Gifts for the patriotic shop or tea tent were received from Mrs Cornelius, Mrs Johansen, Mrs Eager, Mrs Warren, Mrs Fames, Miss Gregoiy, Mrs Grut. Mrs Herbert, Mrs Horrax, Mrs McKerns*?, Mrs Futeher.
