The anniml meeting of the Pahiatua Fire Brigade will be held this evening.

A large number of holly trees have recently been planted in the giounds ot tin* Mangamutu school, the Education Board providing the trees. It is anticipated* that the supply to the Kohinui cheese factory during the coming season will show a considerable increase. From 1-50 to 200 more cows have been promised.

In connection with the Musical and Elocutionary Competitions which open in the King’s Theatre on Wednesday next, the secretary explains, in reply to a number of enquiries, that there will be no seats reserved. A match between the Haniua and Eketahuna Golf Clubs was played on the Eketahuna links in ideal weather and resulted in a win for the liome players, Hamua failing to win a game. The players taking part in the Hu-kamii-Konini match last Saturday were drawn from various districts, and included former members of the Pahiatua, Mangatainoka, Hamua and Xireaha chibs.

An exceptionally large gathering assembled in Mnsterton on Saturday to witness the home-coming of seven wounded Wnirarnpn. soldiers Travelling bv the express train as far as Carterton, the soldiers were welcomed at tin' latter town anil were afterwards motored to Kuripuni, from whence a. procession was formed to Mast erton Bunting and patriotic flags wore flown from the various business premises.
