WHITE ISLAND ERUPTION.

Electric Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland. Lost Night. Sergeant Matthjews telegraphs to Superintendent Kiely this afternoon that he lias just landed at White Island., There is no trace of anything. Everything is buried, sheds, machinery and camp. There appears to have been about 20 acres blown up, mid the lake has disappeared. Presumably the eruption occurred a fortnight ago.
