MAN’S INFATUATION
Electric Telegraph—Press Association. Copyright. Melbourne, Last Night. Hugh Brown, a chauffeur, attempted to shoot Mrs Frances Jefferson, licensee of the Rifle Brigade Hotel, but missed his mark. The barmaid, Miss Foley, rushed to Mrs Jefferson’s ’assistance, and Brown, mistaking her for Mrs Jefferson, fired and killed her. He then committed suicide. Brown was a married man, and it is believed he was infatuated with Mrs Jefferson. Yesterday he enlisted in the Expeditionary Force as a motor transport driver.
