DISPUTE ABOUT A COW.
WHO IS THEOWNER? A COMPLICATED CASE. A case of interest to farmers was heard at the Magistrate’s Court, | Pahiatua, to-day. in which B. J. Bengsten, of Mangatainoka, claimed | from Fred Broad, farmer, of Mangatanoka, J. A. Gibson, stock-dealer, Mangamutu, and Charles Holdaway, farmer, Ballance, the sum of £B, ' value of a red and white Ayrshire cow, or the possession of the animal ' and £5 damages for its detention. ' Plaintiff claims the cow as his prop- | erty, and alleged it had been detain--led by Broad from 3rd September, ' 1913. On 3rd July, 1914. plaintiff states that he demanded the cow from Broad, but the latter refused to deliver the animal. Mr D. B. Kent (Waipukurau) appeared for I plaintiff, Mr J. Osbume Lilly for ' Broad and Gibson, and Mr G. H. Smith for Holdaway. The action is occupying the attention of the Court this afternoon.
