PAHIATUA COUNTY TEAMS.

The Chairman of the Pahiatua County Council (Air H. Cornelius) stated at the annual meeting of the Council to-day that .a number of ratepayers were under the impression that the county teams were not paying, and that they should be dispensed with . The year iiad been an exceptionally wet one. and the eontractors liad had a lot of idle time. He bad liad a return prepared showing tbe quantity of metal delivered by the county teams during the ten montlis of the present year. The total was 9042 cubic yards, which gave a monthly average of 905 yards. Taking everything into consideration, he thought that, the county teams were doing good work. He could not give the average cost per yard of metal, but it liad been put out at less rate that at contract, and it had been delivered to suit the county. The return is as follows:—January 737 cubic yards, February 507, March 1019, April 1025, May 2255, June 671. July 552, August 772, September 601, October 903; total '.*012.
