MOTOR CAR ACCIDENT.

MARVELLOUS ESCAPES. Electric Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A motor car carrying Mr .J. B. H arcourt, Miss Harcourt, Mr Gordon Hareourt, and Colonel Henry Harkness, aii English visitor, met with a serious accident on the Rimutaka incline (Wairarapa side) this morning. The foot brake failed to act as the car was descending the mountain. The driver, H. Elan, acted with great presence of mind, and steered the car to the bank side, preventing it going down the steep declivity. All the occupants were thrown out. Air J. B. Harcourt was badly bruised and shaken, Colonel Harkness received injuries to the head and hands, and the others sustained minor injuries. The party had a miraculous escape from death.
