He received a patient and sympathetic hearing. The candidate, in declining a vote of confidence, expressed the opinion that the best place for confidence was at thi> ballot box on December 7. PAHIATUA SEAT. Air Hawkins addressed a large meeting at AVeber last night. The School house was full, and a large number of ladies were present. Air Hawkins spoke for two hours and applause was frequent. A number of questions were answered. A vote of thanks was carried on the motion of Messrs \Y. Palmer and Robertson. Air 11. ATuscott presided. REEORAI AND LABOUR. Mr Crowley, the Reform candidate for the Napier seat, has retired from the (mutest- in favour of Air H. Hill, the Labour candidate.
