THE ELINGAMITE.
ENQUIRY RE-OPENED
Electric Telegraph—Press Association AA’ellington, Last Night.
In accordance with a special Act of Parliament passed last session, Captain Attwood, master of the wrecked Huddart-Rarker steamer Elingamite, will shortly have an opportunity of appealing against the decision of the Marino Inquiry given in 1903. The ground of the appeal is mainly the fact that it has been since proved by Admiralty surveys that the position of the Three Kings, on which the Elingamite struck, is wrongly shown on the chare. As it is impossible to re-open :• n inquiry with the original assessors, niie of them (Captain AVaddilove) having been drowned in the Dueo, the Minister of .Marine has referred the matter to the Supreme. Court for hearing. This was communicated today to the Registrar, and a. fixture will in due course he made on application by Messrs AVilford and Levi, Captain Attwood’s counsel. The Court will be composed of a judge and two nautical assessors, to he appointed by the ATinister for Marine.
