There was a sensational incident at the breakwater at mid-day yesterday. Two youths, Harold Fuiike. son of the manager of the Hawke's Bay Soap and Tannery Company's works. Awatoto, and lus cousin, Bert. Jones, a

visitor from Onehunga, were photographing a heavy sea. when a wave fitted them off the breakwater. They drifted some distance, but fortunately wore able to swim. James Tonkin, an employee of the Ferro-concrete Company, plunged into the rescue with a line and plank, and through his gallantry both youths were saved. Jones w .i- pretty well exhausted, but quickly (recovered. Funke is to be commended for the manner he kept by Ids cousin in emergency.
