CANTERBURY RACES
Electric Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, April 13. The Ca liter bury Jockey Club’s autumn meeting was concluded at Riccarton to-day in dull weather. The course was in capital order. The totalisator investments amounted to £14,785, an increase of £2237, white the bookmakers’ fees totalled £384 10s. All the jockeys wore crape as a mark of respect to the memory of W. O’Connell, who died this morning as a result of injuries received from a fall in the Kildare Hurdles yesterday. Concluding results:— Yaldhurst Welter Handicap, 7 furlongs: Passion 1, Miss Mischief 2, Contender 3. Also started: Federal, Oiyoi, Zetland, Euclid and Blytheboy. Won by a length and a quarter. Time, lmin 29 3-osec. Great Autumn Handicap, of 1000 so vs; lj miles: Boniform 1, Tikitere 2, Husbandman 3. Also started 1 : Gleneulloch, All Guns, Waitapu, Field Gun, Osiris, and Consolation. Won by a length and a half, Husbandman a neck behind Tikitere. Field Gun was fourth. Time, 2miu 35 3-ssec.
Addington Plate, 5 furlongs: Sister Anne 1, Ivanoff 2. De Witte 3. Also started: Lady Lochiel, Gold Treasure, Chairman, Merry Lass, Alexis and Mythical. IVon by two lengths. Time, lmin 3 4-ssec.
Seventeenth Challenge Stakes, 7 furlongs: Flitaway 1, Taskmaster 2, Provocation 3. Also started: Nautiforni, Xylophone and Zembia. Won by a neck, with Provocation a length and a half behind Taskmaster. Lime, lmin 28 4-ssec.
Templeton Handicap. 6 fitrlongs: Armlet 1, Petrovna 2, Ilarita 3. Also started: Los Angelos, Gold Thread, Woodhey, Serenade. Wbistlecraft, Cerise and Blue, and Montreal. Won by a length and a half. Time, lmin losec. Filial Handicap. 1 nine: Lady Disdain 1, Chief Lccbiel 2. Valdimar 3. Also started: Bollin, Dabchick, Ellerton and Roscommon. Won easily by three lengths. Time, lmin 41 3-osec. AUCKLAND RACES. Auckland, April 13. The Auckland Racing (jinn's meeting was concluded to-day. Results: —- Autumn Handicap: All Red 1, Downfall 2, Waimangu 3. Also started : Sedition, Ngapuka, Sir Prize, and First Gun. Won by a head. St. Helier’s Hurdle Race: Ben Jonson 1, Reservoir 2, Paritutu 3. Also started : Cuiragno and Okaihau. Won by three-quarters of a lengou, Bucklaiul Handicap: Santa Rosa 1, Tamainupo 2, Devonport 3. Also started: Moriarty, Loelibuie, Maheno, Wauchope. Sir Artegal. Foremost, Sir Antrim and Coromandel. Won by a head. Tourist Handicap: Rarata and Turbine (dead heat) 1, Allowed 3. Welter: Spate 1. Waihuka 2, Delegate 3. Scratched: Waimangu. Won by three-quarters of a length. FEILDING RACES. Feilding, April 13. There was beautiful weather for the second day. of the Feilding races. The track was in fine order. Seven bookmakers plied their calling outside and three inside. The totalisator figures for the two days were £22,104, against £31,524 last year. Concluding results : Easter Handicap: Waipaku 1, Gol-, den Gate 2, Flingot 3. Also star too. Tangimoana, Malm to, Ulilando, Tangeroa, Paione. Won easily by a length and a half. Time, 2min 9sec.
Rewa Hack: Dervish 1, Nyland 2, Singer 3. Also- started: Nicotine,' Hydraulic, ' Waipunui, Quick March, Liquid Air. Won by a length. Time, lmin 16 l-ssec. Maiden Scurry: Prevail 1, Whn.rokoa 2, Waiourn 3. Also started : Svlvan Song, Captain Hell, Official, Belle Amie, Arivore, Thetis, Puketuru, Newport, Retort. Itarawa, Rosy M orn, Leolander, Koutawai. Won easily by two lengths. Time, lmin 10 4-ssec.
Makino Welter: Eclogue 1, Longncr 2, Probability 3. Also started: Bonrrasque, Roosevelt, Belario, Moscow, Anemone. After a great tussle Eclogue won by half a length.
