He declares that he will not attempt the feat again. (During the last English summer many attempts were made to swim across the English Channel by Wolffe, Burges, Holbein, Mew, Cattaneo (champion of Italy), and Miss Kellerman (of Australia. The most persistent aspirant for the honour of achieving this teat was Burgess, who on one occasion got within six miles of the French coast.)
