MUSICAL SOCIETY'S SOCIAL.

1 The annual social of the Musical ' and Dramatic Society was held on Friday evening in the Olympic Theatre and was largely attended. Most of the members of the “ lolantho ” caste wore the drosses in which they appeared in the opera, and the guy colors, heightened by the decorations on the walls, gave the scene a charming appearance. The decollations, by tho way, with the extra work of tho preparation of the refreshments, wore the work mainly of Mr and Mrs Milj-0 and Misses Knight and Wood. During the evening several of tho choruses from “ Trial by Jury ” wore givon under the conduotorship of Mr Lucas, tho Society’s accomplished pianists, Mrs Ward, presiding at tho piano. Mrs Milne sang “ Forgot ” very nicely, and tho item was much enjoyed. Mr J. Boagey sang “ Queen of the Earth," and has novor boon heard to bettor advantage. His contribution was a treat. Mr Milne sang “ Tick-a-Tack ” with full chorus and took part with Mr Manifold in a duo!. Miss Marsh contributed “ Tho Bailiff's Daughter of Islington ” with success. The danco programme was a lengthy one, but with everything to command enjoyment it seemed to the dancers all too short, l’rofossor Forster made his first public appearance in I’ahialua since taking up his residence hero ami his line danco music was thoroughly appreciated. After the proof ho gave of his capability as a pianist Professor Forster’s services are likely to he in constant demand. Altogether tho social takes rank as one of tho most enjoyable the Sooioty has yet held.
