PAHIATUA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the Pahiatua School Committee was held last night. Present—Messrs Reeve (chairman), Fraser, Lewis, Levin, Marley, Bottomley and Hare. The Master’s report for the month was road, and as the portion of the report in reference to the School piano was incorrect it was resolved to hand the report back for correction. The attendance for the month of November was: On roll, 255 ; average attendance, 211. The Committee were ot opinion that as the attendance was gradually growing less, that the Board be asked to at once appoint a truant officer to compel parents to send their children to school.

The Chairman’s action in getting window repaired at the school was approved. An application was received from the headmaster to reside away from the sthool, and that the school residence be let.—Mr Levin proposed aud Mr Lewis seconded that the application be forwarded to the Board of Education.

Mr Fraser proposed as an amendment, That tho application be not sent to the Board. Seconded by Mr Rcove and lost. Ayes—Messrs Fraser, Reeve and Marley. Noes— Messrs Levin, Hare, Lewis, and Bottomley. Tho secretary was instructed to write to the Board asking that the school be painted and the fences repaired during the Christmas vacation.

A committee consisting of Messrs Reeve, Marley, Fraser and Hare was appointed to arrange a school excursion for tho children about the middlo of January next. Messrs Fraser and Bottomley were appointed a visiting connnitteo for the ensuing month. Several accounts were passed for payment when funds premitted, and the meeting terminated.
