TO THE KIHTfHt. Siu,— In jour issue containing the report of the meeting held at Hamua re tho proposed Ministerial visit and tho bridge question, your correspondent enlarged on the desirableness of the acquisition of the native lands in tho vicinity for small farm purposes. In doing so ho made a very offensive allusion to myself by saying that the best part of tho land was held by ono man, who managed to keep one hoy only tho year round. Ho is in error there, Mr Editor, for 1 do not, like our worthy l. cal smith, even employ ono boy, f u 1 iud thorn as a rule very impud . .1 bumptious and therefore prefer to employ men. If you, Mr Editor, saw my \vagos-shi*ot for the last six .years you would, I think, acquit me of tho charges implied by your correspondent. In conclusion 1 would advise your correspondent to devote his attention to his trade and try to improve at it, and not attempt to bo smart at other people's expense.—l am, &c., Donald Yule, Hamua, Dec. Bth, 1897.
