R. Diggle, a Moderate, who took a prominent part in the religious education discussion in 1*35, lust his seat as representative of Marleybone. U uch indifference was manifested by electors at the present election, tbeie being half a million fewer voterthan at the previous election. British Army Increase Ridiculed. London, Not. 27. Sir Vernon Hareonrt. speaking at Kirkcaldie. ridiculed the proposed increase in the army, and protested against tlie policy of the Govern ment oil the Indian frontier. Germany and China Squabbling. Berlin, November 27. Germany claims that China shall execute the murderers of the missionaries and pay an indemnity of 600.000 taels, besides the cost of the occupation of Kaiochai. The Chinese Government offered to make reasonable reparation if Kaiochai is first evacnated. A deadlock over the negotiations exists at present. Japan Inquisitive. Tokio, November 27.
