BY TELEGRAPH —I’ER PRESS ASSOCIATION. Wellington, November 17. Tho Wellington Show opened today. It was rather fine overhead, but a strong northerly wind was blowing across tho ground. Only the cattlo and sheep were judged to-day. The show of slioep was a magnificent one, and exports declaro it to be hard to beat anywhere. Tho Tho strong classos were Lincolns and fat slioep for freezing purposes, both making a very fino show. Mr JL>. Grant, I'emuka, swept tho board in tho English Leicester class, and also took tho gold modal for champion ram and silver medal for ohampion owe. Messrs Bidwell, Buchanan, Booth, Stuckey (Wairarapa breeders', Deans (Riccarton), and Lancaster (Palmerston North), divided the principal prizes for fat sheep suitable for freezing. Mr Tanner, Hastings, secured first for Lincoln ram above thirty months, Messrs Perry Bros., Wairarapa, second. Mr Tanner took all prizos in Lincoln rams between oighteen and thirty months. November 18. Tho show to-day was spoiled by a rough dusty wind, which turned to a light drizzle in tho afternoon. There was a capital programme of jumping, driving, polo, tug of war, log cutting and bicycle obstacle race, etc. If the weather had only been favorable llioro would have boon a largo attendance, luit it was restricted to a few thousands. The Governor was presold part of tho timo.
