NEWS BY TELEGRAPH. [Press Association] . The Auckland Shooting Case Auckland, This Day. Pohlen does not seem to be greatly concerned at his position, but broods over the subject which led to the altercation with and the subsequent shooting of Carcoran, but the gaol authorities of course refuse to give any information as to whether ho has made reference to the affair. Fire in a Hospital. Dunedin, This Day. Some excitement was caused this afternoon by an outbreak of fire in the old portion of the hospital. Flames wero seen issuing from one of the towers, but timely discovery enabled it to be got under without doing much damage. It was caused by a kitchen chimney taking fire and communicating the flames to the tower. The patients were not alarmed.
National Insurance Co. Dunedin, This Day.
The National Insurance report, recommending a dividend of Is 6d, was adopted. The Chairman said the last two months were free from losses, and the Company had come out better than it at one time expected. The assets were represented by thoroughly solid securities and good property.
