Mr Chin Ting’s replace advertisement will appear in our next issue. The public aro reminded that the Te Aro House drapery sale positively closes to-morrow. A petition is being signed praying the Government to establish a post office at the Tutaekara railway station. The Pahiatua Band will play tha following programme at the Borough Bridge on Sunday afternoon, weather permitting: Quick march, “ The Schorcher ” (J. Judd); euphonium solo, “ The Diver ” (Loder) ; waltz, “ Germinia” (K.V. Keller); selection, “Gems of Columbia ” (H. Round); quick march, “ The Gallant Grenadier’* (W. Seddon); selection, “ Hibernia ” (H. Round); “ God Save the Queen.” Messrs Abraham and Williams have been appointed sole agents for the Highland Paste Dip and Highland Soluble Fluid Dip. The properties claimed for and the constituent elements of the Highland dips will be found in the advertisement published in another column. This dip has just been placed on the market in this district, and enjoys a high reputation. The days of miracles are reputed to have passed away, but the public mind is always ready to be startled, and when really startled really enjoys itself. Today in another column our readers will notice that seven wonders of Pahiatua are advertised, each succeeding wonder being more startling. The public will have its heart palpitated by reading the advertisement indicated. It will be found in Messrs R. Blair and Co.’s advertwirg space. Read it. The necessity for raising the Ngaturi bridge is a matter which requires the urgent and immediate attention of the County Council. In the opinion of many practical men the bridge runs the risk of being entirely swept away. Every flood that occurs repeats the danger and agitates the settlers' minds. The danger has made itself so real to the minds of the settlers that they are prepared to rate themselves with another special rate in order to raise the necessary amount to do the work. When the settlers are prepared to add to their already heavy burden of taxation the County Council should at once put the necessary machinery in motion to raise the loan. In the interest of every settler and the travelling public we urge this matter on the immediate attention of the Council. What the results would be to the district if this structure were washed away are cf too serious a nature to permit delay in carrying out the suggested work.
