THE FREIGHTS ON PRODUCE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Kindly allow me to draw the attention of your readers to the Hon. Mr Seddon’s remake on the above subject in hie Financial Statement delivered last Tuesday week and published in Wednesday’s New Zealand Times. For some time past some Wellington wool and produce agents, who are also agents for a shipping company, have been carefully posting to their country clients every copy of the New Zealand Times m which appeared a letter, leader, or paragraph endeavoring to show that the shipping companies could not possibly reduce freights below the present rates. As some people (even in the bush) read the New Zealand Times, they will observe that the wool agents who are also shipping company agents forgot to mark the freight question with blue pencil in Wednesday’s issue and post it. Perhaps they did not get a cony, but I have posted one to them. If you, sir, could find space for Mr Seddon's remarks re freights in the Financial Statement the whole question is explained in a nutshell. —I am, etc., P. J. Quirkk.
