RAID ON PARIHAKA.

New Plymouth, Sept. 18. Inspector McGovern. Sergeant Stagpoole, and ton constables, proceeded to l’anbaka at an early hour this morning fpr the purpose of arresting throe natives who failed to answer summonses to appear at Opunako on a charge of wilful damage to property at Pihama, the outcome of a faction dispute over the ownership of land. It apponrs that four constables went to tho village yesterday to take the men to Opunake, but they refused to go, oil the grounds that they would not got fair treatment there. Consequently a stronger force was organised, but tho natives came willingly, stating they would go to Hawera or New Plyiiioiitb, but not to Opunake.
