The Great Strike of Engineers. By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.— Per Press Association. Loxno:.-, August 29. A gathering of 6000 members of the Amalgamated Engineers Association and allied trades m Hyde Park adopted resolutions heartily concurring in the movement in favor of eight hours, and expressing strong sympathy with the provincial workers. On Saturday £30,000 was distributed in the shape of strike pay amongst 45,000 hands who struck, or have been locked out in connection
with the trouble in the engineering trades.
A ballot taken amongst the members of the BritLu Boilermakers and Iron and Steel Shipbuilders Union resulted in a large majority favoring the eight-hour movement. Beceived August 31, 6 p.m. London. August 80. The ballot taken by the Boilermakers aud Iron and Steel Shipbuilders Association does not commit the society to support the engineers on strike unless the other unions affiliated with the federated trades agree to support. The ballots ou the question of supporting the engineers are proceeding throughout the federated trades.
