Punishment of a Murdering Tribe.

Kir William Mucgregor, Diet.-Go-vernor of New Guinea, lias informed the Governor that the force despatched to punish the murderers of Mr Green, Resident Magistrate, and his party, who were recently massacred in New Guinea, had a skirmish with the natives, two bushmen being shot dead. Subsequently a big fight took place, in which four natives were shot dead. He stated that the warriors were completely humbled in the eyes of other tribes.

Sir William Macgregor is con tinuing the exploration of the in terior of New Guinea.
