The installation of W.M. and investiture of officer* of Eketahuaa Masonic Lodge No. 9*l, N.Z.C., took place on Wednesday evening, the Attendance of members and visitors being very large. The installation of Bro. W. B. Abbot as Worshipful Master of the Lodge, took placo in the Lodge room, Parkville, in presenceof about 50 members, congregated from all parts of the district, including several from Wellington and a large number of the Carterton Lodge, which furnished also (with the exception of the organist) a very efficient Orchestra, consisting of Bros. W. McKenzie and W. Moore (violins) ; liish (clarionet); Weston (eornet); and Proctor (cello). Rt. W. Deputy G.M., Bro. H. J. Williams, conducted the installation, P.M., Bro. Cullen with an illuminated address, and a Past Master’s jewel, and in doing so paid Bro. Cullen a high compliment for the energy and zeal he had displayed while in the chair ; the Brethren had only to look at the Lodge room and compare it with its condition at the last installation te sufficiently realise the work that Bro. Cullen had keen instrumental in carrying out. No doubt he had been ably assisted by his officers, who evidently—one and all—took great interest in the Lodge. Ths large gathering clearly bore evidence that they were advancing Masonry in the District. The address was on vellum and handsomely bound. Bros Cullen briefly replied in a very feeling manner. The Lodge was then closed, and the brethren adjourned te the Public Hall, where a sumptuous banquet was laid out, and it is needless to add thoroughly enjoyed by the brethren, the newly installed W.M. ably presiding supported by the D.G.M. and numerous Past Masters. In responding to the toast of the installing officer. Bro Williams again took occasion to commend the officers and brethren of \ the F.ketahunu Lodge upon the wonderful progress thay hod made during the past year, aud said he was quite convinced that no other Lodge in New Zealand could show the same results. The toasts of the ‘ Queen,’ ' Grand Lodge,’ and ‘ Visiting Brethren* wore duly honored , song enlivened the proceedings, rendered by Bish, Cottis, A. W. Hogg, Moore, Gore. George, Worboys and Sellar, and Bro. McKay gave a recitation. A most enjoyable gathering broke up at about eleven o'clock, the brethren singing “Auld Lang Syne,’, and expressing themselves that they considered it one of the best and most enjoyable meetings of Masons that has been held in the district for some
time, clearly showing the popularity of the \ officers and members of the Kketahuna Lodge.—W. D. Times..
