Wellington, This Day.

The Bank of New Zealand has m ido a call of j£3 bs Hd per share on ordinary shares, payable in three instalments in Wellington and London on February Ist, August Ist and November 25th, 1895. The call, if paid in full, will produce halfa million. In a circular addressed to the shareholders it is explained that the call is made in pursuance of clause 5 of the Bank of New Zealand Guarantee Act, 189-1. It is considered necessary for the welfare of the Bank to call in and cancel one-half the estates company’s 5\ debentures amounting at present to a million and a-half. The directors regret the necessity of this call but they believe it to be in the true interests of the shareholders and conductive to the success of tho Bank. Mr 0. J. Andrews, who has been for some years Inspector of the Bank of New Zealand in Australia, arrived here yesterday tc take up the position of inspector and acting general manager of the Bank.
