Attempted Suicide. Wellington, This Day. Francis Cullen, chief officer on the barque Elsie, attempted suicide this morning on board ship with a revolver. The bullet only grazed the left side of his head. He had a misunderstanding with the captain. Cullen was charged at the Magistrate’s Court this morning and remanded. Fire.
Wellington, This day. A fire broke out in a house in Guznee Btreet last night, but was extinguished while in a incipient stage. It is believed to bo a case of incendiarism, as a fire was built up in a cupboard under the stairs, and all gas jets were turned on. The property is owned by Mrs Lawry and was only vacated yesterday by the last tenant. The building was insured for £SOO.
