Present—Crs j Wilson, Dawson, Briggs, Yule, Tosswill, Bottoinley, Burrows, and Vile, j In the absence of the Mayor Cr Vile I was voted to the chair. Martin, Secretary Munici pal Association, asking the Council to appoint a delegate to the Municipal Con ference. DEVIATION WANTED. The Rev Father McKenna waited on the Council with regard to diverting a creek through hi* property in Wakeman street. Cr Vile moved That the application of l ather Melvenna be referred to a committee consisting of Cr* Dawson, Wilson, and the mover, tor. port to the next meet, ug of the Council. Seconded by Cr Burrows nnd carried. KINO STREET WEST. A petition whs received from Mr Fraser and others, asking that the Council have about 1$ chains of King street west formed and metalled. Moved by Cr \\ llson That the Engineer be instructed to have the work required by Messrs Fraser aud others doue at a coat not to exceed £4. Seconded bv Cr Dawson and carried. TUE RIVER ENCROACHMENT. Ihe report of the bridge committee re road approueh to i ver was read as follows:—Your somu .tee beg to report that so far they have not been successful m making any arrangements with the owner of the land required for the devia lion but hope to complete arrangements early. In the meantime vour committee suggest that about 20 or 30 loads of stone* be carted on to the Palmerston road to keep traffic opeu. On the motion of Cr Vile, seconded bv j Cr Tosswill, the report was adopted. TKNDRRS. Tenders were opened for the metalling of Tynlall aud Manu street.—The tender of H. Dillon wasacoepted. Moved by Cr Tosswill that a crossing bo put in from W akeman street to the new footpath in Tyndall street with a small drain to oarry off the flood water, total cost not to exceed £1 s*. Seconded by Cr Bottomlev and carried. The not ico of motion moved by Cr Tosswill at a previous meeting •• Thai the ' services of Mr Carr be dispensed with” < came up for discussion. The motion was seconded by Cr Dawson and after discussion was lost. Cr Tosswill moved That Mr Naylor’s attention be called to *ee *275 of the Muni oipal Corporation*' Act. Seconded by Cr Vile and .-arried The Council then adjourned.
