due. Considerable dicussion took place regarding the Momohaki Village Settlement sale. The Commissioner laid the plans on tho table and said they struck him as very extraordinary. An attempt had been made to work in two Acts in the conditions, the Land Act of IH9‘2 and the I.and 1 for Settlement Act, beside* which February had been stated as the date of fazetting the Order-in-Council instead of anuary, and while certain conditions were prescribed totally different to those Authorised by Part ill. of the Land Act, these conditions were neither signed by tie Clerk of the Executive Council nor the Minister, but were placed above his (Mr Baker’s) signature without his consent or authority. It was decided that the sale should be held over until after the Board had fully considered the matter. ' A list of settlers in arroar with their its- > proveraents was considered, and notice » ordered to be given to each to comply wi.h the conditions. It was decided to allow Mr Murray to take up an additional area ndjoining sections 2 and 20. Blocks VIII. and X., Puketoi, to the full amount he applied for at 10s per acre. On the motion of Mr Hogg, it was decided to direct the attention of the Minister to the desirability of adhering strictly to the procedure hitherto pursued of submitting to the Land Board for its consideration and approval the terms, plans and conditions connected with the sale of all Crown Lands before such lands are finally dealt with. The Commissioner was authorised to recommend tho Minister to pay compensation for damages done by fire spreading from Crown Lands. It was decided to give the proposed transferee of aectior 19, Block IV., Mangahao, 30 days to sign the lease or the conversion of the lease in perpetuity will lapse. Mr J. Jes&op was granted time to make payments, Mr A. Crosbio, Makuri, twelve months' extension of time to make improvements, and Mr E. Walker, Mangahao, six months’ extension. The forfeiture of Section 29, Block IV., Mangaone, Mrs E. Redwood, was rescinded. It was decided to forfeit Mr McGinley’s interest in Section 24, Block XIV., Makuri, if he does not comply with the conditions by next meeting.
