Kectived 1 SO a.m. Btdhky. Nov. 21. A report has been issued by the Agricultural Department dealing with the wheat crop of the colony for the seaeoii 18!ia-lfi!»4. The area of wheal is 580.000 acres, an increase of 77.800 over last year. The general ap|>earanre of the crop does not favor expectation of more than the usual average yield but it is regarded that the present time is too e *rly to definitely pronounce an opinion. In the Legislative Assembly the Premier in reply to u question promised to introduce a bill providing for second ballots at Parliamentary election under certain circumstance*. The Mining on Private Property Bill was further considered in Committee. The Minister of public works stated tlint he was prepared to recogguise the voice of the lower chamber, and now decided to abandon royalty to private owners which the House had strenuously opposed. Melbourne, Nov. 21. The Mercantile Bank cases were continued to-day, Sir Mathew Davies and Messrs Millcilge and Munty completed their statement. The latter declared that lie was included in the prosecution in order that what might look like prosecution of Davies and M iHedge must look like a prosecution. Sir Mathew Davies asserted that up to the last lie felt assured that the balance sheet of the bauk was accurate. Cox, the informant in the present prosecution, will be the box to-morrow.
