Boisterous weather conditions prevailed for the final matches in the first round of the Fletcher Cup competition, played on Saturday. With the exception of the Old Boys’-Port match the games were closely contested, and it is evident the subsequent round will be full of interest. Seacliff, with 12 points, assumes the lead consequent on Mosgiel dropping a point in its game with Northern, but both Maori Hill and High School Old Boys are lying in a handy position with 10 and 8 points respectively.
