MANIOTOTO SHOW

A SUCCESSFUL FIXTURE The Maniototo Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s annual show, which was held at Ranfurly, fully maintained the standard set in previous fixtures conducted by the society, the general quality of the exhibits forward being commendably high. Prominent amongst the. sections was that for fat lambs, the judge declaring that the exhibits would have done credit to a royal show. The entries for the various sections were about 30 short of those received last year, but that can be explained by the fact that work on many farms is somewhat later this year, whilst shearing operations have also commenced in parts of the country. Messrs John M’Leod and Sons win the cup for the highest aggregate in the show for the second time in succession, and therefore win the trophy outright. The gate takings were about 30s below those for the previous fixture, which is considered to be very satisfactory when the general financial stringency is taken into account. The following are the results: — CATTLE. Judge: Mr W. Robertson (Middlemarch). SHORTHORN. Bull, any age. Two entries —John M’Leod 1 and 2. Cow. any age, in milk.
