BOXING. SHARKEY BEATS CARNERA THE ITALIAN OUTCLASSED. NEW YORK, October 12. .Tack Sharkey 14st Glib gained a decision over Camera 18st 91b. Sharkey in the first round allowed Carnera to take the offensive, but he had little trouble in evading the Italian's rushes and landing effectively with his right. In the second round Sharkey ran into a wild left lead by the Italian. They exchanged blows which landed lightly on the face and the body. Sharkey had some difficulty in reaching his opponent, but he had the better of the fight thus far.

In the third round the American boxed well, and Primo missed badly. The Italian's advantage in reach made it impossible for Sharkey to use jabbing tactics. The round was even.

In the fourth round Camera adopted rushing tactics, but Sharkey had no difficulty in dodging him. Sharkey landed three hard lefts to the body and floored his opponent with a hard right to the chin. Camera went down again, but without being hit. Camera now claime 1 a foul, but the referee declined to allow it. Sharkey claimed the fight on a foul because Camera fell without being hi’. The eighth round was even, Sharkey boxing and Camera jabbing.

In the ninth round the crowd, not being satisfied with the fighters' rattles, booed for action, and Sharkey sent Camera back on his heels with a left to the body, followed by three staggering lefts to the face. In a 15-round contest Frank Markey, Scottish bantam champion, outpointed Johnny Peters. FAIRHALL DEFEATS MORGAN A SENSATIONAL FINISH. TIMARU, October 15. The professional boxing contest tonight between Tommy Fairhall (Timaru) and Ted Morgan (Wellington) ended sensationally in the sixth round, the referee stopping the fight. In the early rounds Morgan was aggressive but found Fairhall most elusive. The latter appeared content I to hold his ground and await a favourable opening, which came half way through the sixth round. He crossed a left"to Morgan’s chin, and then swung with his right, the welter-weight champion going to the boards for the count of nine. Fairhall went after his man, and again sent him to the boards, the referee stopping the fight. Morgan danced round the ring protesting, with the house in an uproar. Hooting and booing continued for some time, and Morgan was given an ovation as he left the ring.
