RIFLE SHOOTING

KIWI DEFENCE CLUB. Last Saturday saw the finish of the Kiwi Defence Rifle Club competitions for the President’s Match and Huntly Cup. A very dull light and occasional showers affected good shooting considerably. The attendance of members was not so large as usual due mainly to the threatening weather. The match and cup were won by Rifleman N. Jones, who tied with Rifleman L. Ogg. but the firmer takes pride of place on account of his smaller handicap. Next Saturday will see the start of the belt series, the first competition of No. 1 match consisting of 10 shots and two optional sighters at 300 and 500 yards.
