PROPOSED AIR MAIL.
EXPANSION LEAGUE’S CONGRATULATIONS.
Regarding the statement of the Post-master-general (Mr J. B. Donald) in respect to interisland aerial mail service, as an indication that one of its fondest hopes is likely to be realised in the near future, the secretary of the Otago Expansion League has despatched the following letter to Mr Donald:—
“ I am instructed by the president of the Otago Expansion League (Mr G. J. Errington) to convey to you the congratulations of himself and his Executive Committee on the statement made by you yesterday regarding the eventual establishment of an aerial mail service in New Zealand.
“As you are aware, this innovation has been pressed upon the attention of your department for some time, and as recently as June 25, 1930. the matter was once more stressed, owing to the forward steps taken in the south to secure adequate landing places for aerial machines. “ My league is delighted with the prospect, and nays grateful tribute to your courage and foresight in thus grappling with the many difficulties of so great an innovation, and trusts sincerely that an unqualified success will attend your forward policy, redounding at once to your personal honour and the benefit of the Dominion.”
