ABSENT WITHOUT LEAVE.
COMPLAINT AGAINST DOCTOR. CHRISTCHURCH, December 18. “ Dr Alinty has left the service of the Hospital owing to his having absented himself when he was supposed to be on duty.” This clause appeared in the report of the Hospital Committee to the meeting of the North Canterbury Hospital Board to-day and was adopted. At a later stage the chairman (Air H. J. Otley) said that in connection with the complaint made by Aliss E. -I. AL Cardale at the last meeting of the board, that a jockey named XVebster had been left at the hospital for two hours without treatment the report was not quite accurate. It was quite true that tbe doctor who was supposed to be on duty in the ward was not present. “Dr Alinty had taken French leave and was away at the United courts playing tennis,” he said. Aliss Cardale asked who saw a patient when lie was first admitted. XX’as it a nurse? The chairman explained that when a patient was admitted he was seen by a doctor and then sent to a ward. A patient was seen by a doctor when ho first entered the hospital. There was no further discussion on the matter.
