“ SYNTHETIC ” GOLD.

DR MARSDEN’S REPORT. THIRST FOR INFORMATION UNSATISFIED. WELLINGTON, September 24. A request to the Prime Minister (Sir Joseph Ward) to disclose the report of Dr Marsden on the alleged discovery by two Christchurch men of the transmutation of tin into gold was made by Mr E. J. Howard (Labour member for Christchurch South) in the House of Representatives to-day.

Mr Howard’s request was in the form < a question addressed to the Prim - ' Minister, and read as follows :—“ Will the report by Dr Marsden on the alleged transmutation of tin into gold be treated as a parliamentary paper and made available to members, and will the Prime Minister make a Ministerial statement as to the result of the analysis?” “ The document is a report between the department and the people concerned," replied the Prime Minister. “It is net a report of the Government's, and is there fore confidential as between the parties. Any disclosures as to the result of the report will require to come from iLe people concerned in Christchurch.”
