YOUNG MARRIED WOMAN - INJURED.

AUCKLAND, February 27. A young married woman named Maud Eileen M'Gregor was brutally assaulted last, night near the gate of the Princess street wharf and was removed to the hospital with severe facial injuries. The gatekeeper heard a woman screaming, and found Mrs M'Gregor lying in a pool of blood. It is alleged that her husband was standing over her in a threatening attitude. . °

Frederick Harvey M'Gregor, aged 37, a clerk, was arrested on a charge of assault, and appeared in the Police Court to-day. He was remanded on bail of £5O.

It was stated that while Mrs M'Gregor’s injuries were certainly severe, they were not expected to have any serious result.
