IMPROVING TAHUNA PARK.
CO-OPERATION WITH MANUFACTURERS.
The proposal to extend exhibition facilities at Tahuna to allow of the Otago A. and P. Society and the Dunedin Manufacturers’ Association co-operating in the show and exhibition idea, provided the subject of discussion at a conference of represetatives of the two bodies on the 18th inst.
The financial aspect of the scheme, upon nhich •" exhaustive report was submitted, was fully considered, and the control and management of the project were threshed out. Plans ol the proposed buildings, which will cover an area of over 65.000 square feet, were submitted also. T i was made quite clear that if the proposals were carried into effect the A. and P. Society’s title to Tahuna would in no way be affected, nor would the society be in any danger of losing its identity. The Winter Show of the society in June will be held under the combined auspices of the two bodies, and it is felt that, the operations and effect of the society’s activities will be thus extended, while mutual benefit should accrue to both organisations. It was suggested that a separate committee should be formed to control the Winter Show and the Manufacturers’ Association’s exhibition, the committee to consist of eight members —four from the executive of each body. This matter, together with the reports submitted in regard to finance and buildings, was referred to special committees. It is expected that at the next meeting of representatives, important details and decisions in regard to the project will be available. The executive of the Otago A. and P. Society has decided to reconimend to the General Committee the calling of tenders for the purchase of the Crawford street premises.
