CIRCUS HANDS SENT TO GAOL.

WELLINGTON, January 10. Three circus hands, who pleaded guiltv last week to receiving stolen goods, were to-day each sentenced to 14 days’ imP5 ls , on J? enfc S, the Magistrate remarking that the offences seemed ..to be a concerted matter, the property being part of goods stolen in the South Island from motor cars and other places, for which thefts four other men had been sentenced to terms of three months. In order that the men might not be left stranded in New Zealand, the Magistrate agreed to alter the sentence to a fine of £5, in default a fortnight in gaol.
