On the motion of Mr A. \V. Beavcn, the Canterbury Employers’ Association at its annual meeting last week (reports our special correspondent) approved of the Daylight Saving Bill. Mr A. Spencer, a visitor from Auckland, supported the motion, and drew attention to the success the measure had had in Great Britain. He said he felt that no harm would bo done if tho proposal were given a trial in tho Dominion except, perhaps, to the picture theatre proprietors. The motion was carried with ono dissentient. Tho Balclutha Boys' Brass Band intends to make a tour of the South Island, playing in various centres, during tho Christmas vacation, and will also go on to Auckland (writes our Balclutha correspondent). It was mentioned at the annual meeting of the Pipe Band that the boys would be accompanied by a youthful member of the pipa band (Piper Copland) who would assist in concert work. It is understood that one Balclutha resident has undertaken.to guarantee, the whole of the expenses of the Boys’ Band on the trip.
