The attention of the Hawke’s Bay County Council was drawn to the unsatisfactory living quarters recently erected by Chinese market gardeners at Riverside, Clive (says the Herald), Mr W. Tucker stated that the premises had been made out of motor car cases, and if the council had power he thought a stop should be put to such practices at once. On Mr Tucker’s motion, the council decided to give three months’ notice for suitable living accommodation to be provided.
