COURSING.

DUNEDIN CLUB’S MEETING. A novice stake and an open sweepstake were run off at Forbury Park by the Dunedin Coursing Club on Saturday afternoon in exceptionally fine weather. The entries were not numerous ; but some interesting sport was witnessed by a rather limited number of spectators. The overnight rain had not interfered with the plumpton to any appreciable extent. The judge was again Mr James Flynn, and the slipper was Mr J. Matheson. The joint secretaries were Messrs T. and C. Lee; and Mr H Divers acted as press steward. The results were as follow: — NOVICE STAKE. Winner to receive £5; runner-up £2 10s; and third dog £1 IQs. First Round. Mrs W. Casey’s blk w b Pearlie Tar, by Jolly Tar—Queen Lizzie, beat Mr A. Baird's brd w b Andy’s Pride, by Castle Hill Lad—Queen Bee. Messrs W. and H. Rose of Picardy beat Sea Prince In the first round of the Novice Stake Pearlie Tar led Andy’s Pride 10 '.he game by five lengths, and some .-..ik 11 the hare followed before it was an ven to covert. Mate o’ Mine led .jady Mac by two lengths, and did most of the work that drove to covert. Ardcnvhoi was a similar distance ahead of r 'onucai when the hare was reached, and did most of lhe work in a short course before the name reached the escapes. Blueberry had a lead of two lengths of Final Verse, who was outclassed, the score being well tu favour of the former when the hare escaped. Eve ran a bye. In the second round Pearlie Tar and Mate o’ Mine put in ? good run to the hare, and the <_ours< was an even one, and resulted in favour of Mate 0- Mine. Evo had an advantage over Ardenvhor of about a length m the run up, and had the score well n hand at the end Blueberry ran a very good course on a dodgy hare in the bye. In the semi-final Eve led Blueberry oy eight lengths, and did most of the work that drove to covert. 'lhe two dogs to meet in the final were Eve and Mate •’ Mine, the latter running a bye in the semi-final. Eye led up by about five lengths and won without difficulty. Tn the Open Stake the run to the hare between Rose of Picardy and Slyly Achieved was very even and the exchanges were also fairly even Rose of Picardy won by a narrow margin Sea Prince beat Happy Voyage practically on speed, the course being very ''nearly a straight run to the escapes Tn the final Rose of Picardv led Sea Prince by four lengths, and. working closely on the game, had no difficulty in winning. Sea Prince also put in some good work during the course. THE WATERLOO CUP. MELBOURNE, July 18. The Waterloo Cup was won by' Jew’s Harp, with Orion runner-up.
