A return published in the Gazette shows that during the quarter ended December 31, .1926, Nelson was the only postal district in the Dominion where savings bank deposits were in excess of withdrawals,tho sum being £3714. For the quarter, the withdrawals exceeded the deposits in all districts by £705,132, as compared with an excess of withdrawals totalling. £1942,639 in the corresponding quarter of 1925. The centres showing heavy . withdrawals last quarter were: Dunedin £122,‘422, Wellington £113,577, and Christchurch £101,162.
