EXPORT OF APPLES.
A GRIEVANCE. NELSON, January 27. The announcement that no ships will load apples at Nelson for overseas before the middle of March, and that no date after that has yet been fixed has caused the greatest dissatisfaction amongst the Nelson growers who are producing at least two-thirds of the export apples. By the middle of March a large portion of the crop will have been handled, and the fact that no boat will be loading direct means a large sum in the aggregate for transhipping charges to Wellington. The growers consider that they are entitled to more consideration in the way of direct loading.
