RADIO BROADCASTER.
MR PRENTICE’S CAREER. WELLINGTON, January 20. Air J. M. Prentice, chief announcer and consultative adviser for the Radio Broadcasting Company of New Zealand, is on a visit to Wellington. Mr Prentice was,'-'--prior to coming to New Zealand, for two years announcer and studio lecturer at tlm famous Sydney broadcasting station 2BL. Mr Prentice joined the New Zealand company about two months ago, and has been officiating at the Auckland broadcasting station IYA. “ ' Prior to embarking on a radio broadcast studio career, Mr Prentice had globetrotted twice around the world visiting many countries, studying the peoples, theit industries, politics and economic problems. He is keenly interested in psychologists, including the eminent Swiss authority Dr Jung, of Zurich, During the war Mr Prentice, who is of Australian birth, served with lhe Australian forces with a. commission for four years in Gallipoli, France' and Belgium. ' He was mentioned in dispatches and received two Belgian decorations, including the Belgian Order of the Crown, which was awarded only on two other occasions to Australians. It is the analogue of the British Victoria. Cross. Mr Prentice_ is a keen student of musio, and was musical critic, for a well-known Australian weekly for two years. In hi 4 capacity of expert adviser Mr Prentice will visit and consider the stations operated by the Radio Broadcasting Company, and. -report on the requirements of each. Already a marked improvement has been noted jn the programmed of IYA Auckland, and, while not making any comment on the past, Mr Prentice is very optimistio in regard to an increased efficiency and to improvements in all technical matters relating to-transmission, etc., and better anA more varied programmes.
