BREACHES OF LICENSING ACT.

NASEBY, July 15. As the result of a raid made on several licensed houses by Senior Sergeant Quartermain and two constables in the Naseby district on July 3, a number of persons appeared before the court at Naseby on Tuesday last to answer the charges made. The cases were heard by Mr H. J. Dixon. S.M. Saverir Massetti. proprietor of the Ranfurlv Hotel, was fined £5, and costs (7s), on a cnarge of keeping the bar open after hours. Similarly charged, William Collins, Royal Hotel, Nageby. was fined a like amount, and his license was ordered to be endorsed. Five local men appeared on charges of being on licensed premises after hours. Three of them were fined 20s, and costs (7s), and fines of 40s, and costs (7s) was imposed on two. Having pleaded guilty to being found on tho premises of the Patearoa Hotel after hours, three men were fined 40s, and costs (7s).
