A WORLD’S RECORD.

EXTRAORDINARY PLANTING OPERATIONS. It is claimed that the planting operations carried out by the field staff of New Zealand Perpetual Forests (Ltd.), at Putaruru, constitute a world’s record. During the months of May and June a total of 8,828,750 trees were consigned to the various camps and depots from the company’s nurseries, while 1,800,000 trees were received from the Government nurseries. During the present planting season, which began on May 1. a total of 15,000 acres of land has been planted with exotic softwoods. At the present rate of progress a total of approximately 44,000 acres will be planted by September of this year, making an aggregate area established in forests cf 55.000 res.
